Food

By Lewis Hudson Aged 10

I love my food

I think its delicious and yummy

But I like it better

When it is deep down in my tummy.

Sunday dinner is the best

Meat, potatoes and yorkshire pudding

Followed by my mums

Sticky toffee and chocolate pudding

Monday it's a salad

Tuesday it's fish or rice

Wednesday it is chops, lamb or pork

Thursday i can't remember but it's sure to be nice.

Friday its good to have a pie

Saturday because we are in a hurry

Mum lets us have

Mcdonalds, Chinese or even a curry.

Then it's back to Sunday

I have told you before

When I look at my mums dinner

All I can say is “I want more”.

But as I sit and eat it

I think how lucky I am

Because I know other children

Sit looking at an empty pan.

They have no Sunday dinner

No chops, no fish or rice

They have no chocolate dinner

Or anything that tastes nice.

Instead they go without

And some they sit and cry

And others they watch quietly

As young ones fade and die.

So although I love my dinners

And know how lucky I am

I always think and remember

Those less fortunate than I am.
